Tips for feeling stylish during your pregnancy – Monaco Style guide

cover

In my last post, which you can read here, I talked about how to stay comfortable during your pregnancy, which is one of the most important things to keep in mind when you’re expecting.

However, your style sometimes cannot be compromised, so today I’ll be talking about all the tips that will keep you stylish during your pregnancy and the tips that worked for me.

what to wear in Monaco

On our recent babymoon to Monaco, which I will blog about in the next few days, I really wanted to dress a little bit more stylish.ย  Monaco and Cote D’Azur are the right places to sport your stylish outfits. All the people are so nicely dressed there and when we visited in May it was the perfect time to feel a little more summery. It’s always nice when you don’t have to fight the cold and wind all the time!ย  Nice weather permits to wear fewer layers and the days that the sun was out it felt like a proper summer holiday.

So my beautiful summer dress by Iclothing had to come with me and I really enjoyed wearing in on an easy day out on the boat and at the local beach bars.

Go for long loose dresses

During summer we tend to wear long and loose dresses or even dresses that stretch and allow space for your bump. These don’t have to be maternity dresses, but everyday summer dresses that you feel comfortable, yet stylish.

Stick to your own size

Even if your buying clothes for your pregnancy if you choose a loose fit you can still wear your size especially if you haven’t put on a lot of weight so you can still wear your dresses after.

The dress I picked from Icloting is a size 10 and you have seen me wear it below with a belt when I was not pregnant.

Go for the style that works for you

With my wardrobe, I was a bit lucky as I would naturally wear loose dresses instead of figure-hugging so it was very easy for me to still wear the dresses that I would usually wear. However this is not the same with everyone, so for your pregnancy, you will have to stick to what works best for you and not change your style, so you can feel yourself.

Flat footwear can also be stylish

The fact that you want to dress up an outfit doesn’t necessarily mean that you will have to go for your high heels. Learn to dress up any look with comfortable flat footwear or even a kitty heel that will give you the comfort you need and style. My brogue style shoes by Oxendales Ireland,ย which you can see here, were the perfect match for the day. I could have easily gone for open toes flats but as the weather was not that warm I chose warmth first.

Go for darker colours

Darker colours tend to be more forgiving, even if you’re not pregnant so even if you feel like hiding your bump if you don’t want to be the centre of attention for your own reasons then go for darker colours that will add the style and formality that you will need without having people talk or stare.

Don’t forget your accessories

The fact that you’re expecting doesn’t mean that you have to forget all about yourself. Make sure to add accessories to your outfits and go for delicate necklaces or earrings that are so much in fashion this season.

The necklace I’m wearing here is by the Irish jewellery brand Frost Couture.ย
