I bet we are all the same on this one… The moment we see a bargain deal we want to immediately love it, like it, and BUY it immediately …
It’s our psychology, that creates the NEED for products on offer, and if we don’t buy them we know that we will regret it, or we feel that we have missed out.
This all has to do with our consumer psychology and this is what brands use to be introduced to us. They are making themselves and their products more attractive, a 2 for 1 offer a 50% off can always do the trick and you could end up spending a fortune on products.
But do these bargain deals really worth it?
To answer to my own question I put myself to the test and bought a few good bargain deals that were highly advertised during February.
The products involved to the test were:
- Lasting Finish 25h Foundation With Comfort Serum
- Rimmel London Lasting Finish Powder
- Rimmell Wonder’full mascara with Argan Oil
- Collection Bronze Glow – Mosaic
And the verdict:
Lasting Finish 25h Foundation With Comfort Serum
At a normal price of 8.99 Euros that’s a good offer, but another 4 Euros off it makes it a true bargain worth buying! You just can’t go wrong with it! At 4.99 Euros it’s a “buy me” price. So what happens when the excitement goes and you come home and the time to try this product has come? Was it really worth it?
Coverage
To start with, this foundation is a medium to full coverage one, so if you are looking for see through, thin foundation this is not for you. However, you could achieve a lighter finish by using a lot less product. A small pump can take you a very long way as the product is quite heavy.
Aroma
One of the things I like about this foundation is its delicate fragrance, it smells elegant and fresh, and puts you in a good mood for the day.
Texture
This foundation comes with added serum. Although it has been added to have a more fluid texture, I found it heavy for my skin; I felt that my skin was not responding well to it. Close up you could see my pores, and I felt that it defined my face’s thin lines, and that’s a NO – NO!
However, when I tried it with a silicon primer, the foundation lasted a lot longer and felt a lot more natural.
Skin types
If your skins is dry, this foundation may not be for you, as it is not as moisturizing. It would suit combination to oily skin better. This foundation comes in 7 shades but does not cover darker skin colours.
25 Hours Claim
Not sure as I have never wore it for 25 hours, however it lasts for the 10 hours that I have tried it on.
Would I buy it again?
I usually go for light to medium coverage and for lighter foundation. So for me it would be a NO. But this does not mean that this foundation is not going to be good for your needs. I would prefer to save that money and buy a different product that I would find better use as I don’t see me wearing it everyday as it’s quite heavy.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Powder
This powder is only available in Boots and it was on offer for 4.99 Euros! Normal price 8.99 Euros. Although, I tend not to use powder to finish off my look, it is good to carry one especially for the winter months when a runny nose and the use of tissues ends us wiping off your make-up.
Texture
Light but a bit drying texture so good to use with your foundation, though not on it’s own if you have dry skin.
Effect
It has a matte effect but as mentioned it feels a bit dry.
Skint type
Good for oily skin that tents to shine. Not good for dry skin.
Would I buy it again?
I think I would be happy to explore something different with a more silky finish as I felt it was a bit dry for my combination skin. This is totally down to preference and skin type.

Rimmel Wonder’full mascara with Argan Oil
The price was very inviting. You don’t see mascaras for 5.99 Euros very often. At a normal price of 9.99 Euros it is a bargain anyway. This great price offer and the Argan oil claim was what made me buy it.
The brush
What immediately put me off this mascara was the plastic brush. I am not fan of plastic brushes. I find them very hard on the eyes, and even if they claim a full lush effect I find that what they do is to separate the lushes giving a thinning effect rather than fuller.
I am now using it with a disposable mascara brush and the result is much better
Would I buy it again?
Probably not, I would much rather save my money and buy my favourite Rimmel by Kate mascara.
Overall score (based on personal preferences) – Price: 10/10 Result: 3.5/10
Collection Bronze Glow – Mosaic
You really can’t go wrong with this bronzer. At a 3.99 Euro price, all I have to say is good words about it. It definitely puts a few overpriced bronzers to the test and it really does a great job. I am overall happy with this product and I have been using it every day. This was definitely my true bargain.
Texture
Not drying with a silky finish. If you prefer a matte finish, the matte bronzer comes at the same price. The fact that it is mosaic gives a variety to the look and a lighter finish.
Skin type
Appropriate for all skin types.
Would I buy it again?
I would easily buy it again, and at the price of 3.99 Euros that was my true bargain with regards to value for money.
Overall score (based on personal preferences) – Price: 10/10 Result: 10/10
